Montortal

Montortal is a pedania of l'Alcúdia in the province of Valencia, Spain, situated about two kilometres south of the centre of the town. Formerly it was owned by the Marquesses of Montortal. Montortal is a small village (100 inhabitants) set amongst the orange and caqui groves in an intensive agricultural area.

Castle of Xàtiva

Castle of Xàtiva is a castle located in the city of Xàtiva near Valencia, Spain. It is strategically located on the ancient roadway Via Augusta leading from Rome across the Pyrenees and down the Mediterranean coast to Cartagena and Cádiz. In 1092, the castle fell into the occupation of the Almoravid Dynasty who were expelled in an uprising that took place in 1145. During this uprising, the castle was besieged by the Governor of Valencia, Marwan Abd-al-Aziz.

Júcar

The Júcar or Xúquer is a river on the Iberian Peninsula of Spain. The river runs for approximately 509 km from its source at Ojuelos de Valdeminguete, on the eastern flank of the Montes Universales, Sistema Ibérico. Its most important tributary is the Cabriel. River Júcar flows first southward and then eastward through the towns of Cuenca, Alcalá del Júcar, Cofrentes, Alzira, Sueca and Cullera, a town located near its mouth into the Gulf of Valencia, Mediterranean Sea.
