Jarabulus

Jarabulus is a Syrian city administratively belonging to Aleppo Governorate. Jarabulus, also known as Jerablus, has an altitude of 367 m asl and lies on the western bank of the river Euphrates. It has a population of 25,705. It is located North of the Assad lake, just South of the Syro-Turkish border.

Jarabulus District

Jarabulus is a Syrian district administratively belonging to Aleppo Governorate. At the 2004 Census it had a population of 58,889. Its administrative centre is the city of Jarabulus. Kurds and Arabs form the majority in the district. The city of Jarabulus had an Armenian minority until the early 1970s when most of them moved to Aleppo.

Carchemish

Carchemish or Karkemish was an important ancient capital at times independent but also having been part of the Mitanni, Hittite and Neo Assyrian Empires, now on the frontier between Turkey and Syria.
