Samut Sakhon Province

Samut Sakhon is one of the central provinces (changwat) of Thailand, established by the Act Establishing Changwat Samut Prakan, Changwat Nonthaburi, Changwat Samut Sakhon and Changwat Nakhon Nayok, Buddhist Era 2489 (1946), which came into force as from March 9, 1946. Neighboring provinces are (from the southwest clockwise) Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom and Bangkok.

Khlong Phasi Charoen

Khlong Phasi Charoen is a canal in western part of central Thailand. The canal links the Tha Chin river to Khlong Bangkok Yai. It starts at Khlong Bangkok Yai nearby Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, Bangkok and ends southward of Wat Ang Thong, Tambon Don Kai Di, Krathum Baen district, Samut Sakhon Province. It is approximately 30 km long. The canal project was initiated by Phra Phasi Sombat Boriboon (พระภาษีสมบัติบริบูรณ์), who later became Phraya Phison Sombat Boriboon (พระยาพิสณฑ์สมบัติบริบูรณ์).

Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bangkok

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bangkok, Thailand (Archidioecesis Bangkokensis, อัครสังฆมณฑลกรุงเทพฯ) dates back to 1662, when the Vicariate Apostolic of Siam was created. It was renamed Vicariate Apostolic of Eastern Siam (Siam Orientale) in 1841 and Vicariate Apostolic of Bangkok in 1924. On December 18, 1965, it is was elevated to the rank of a metropolitan archdiocese.
