İncirlik

İncirlik is a town in the Sarıçam district of Adana Province with a population of 11,555. Formerly a municipality, it was incorporated into Sarıçam Municipality in 2008. İncirlik is located approximately 10 km east of Adana. İncirlik is made up of 3 neighborhoods; Hürriyet, Kemalpaşa and Yeni Mahalle. The major institution in İncirlik is NATO's Incirlik Air Base from which American aircraft patrolled Iraq's northern No-Fly Zone between the 1991 Persian Gulf War and the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Incirlik Air Base

Incirlik Air Base (Turkish: İncirlik Hava Üssü) is a United States Air Force installation, located near İncirlik, Turkey. Incirlik Air Base is located 8 kilometres east of Adana, Turkey, the fifth largest city in the country, and is 56 kilometers (35 miles) inland from the Mediterranean Sea. The United States Air Force and the Turkish Air Force are the primary users of the air base, although it is also used by the British Royal Air Force.

Misis Mosaic Museum

Misis Mosaic Museum exhibits the works that were excavated from Misis Tumulus, most notable are the mosaics that were on the floor of a 4th century temple in the ancient city of Misis. The museum is founded in 1959 in Yakapınar village on the far east end of Adana at the west bank of Ceyhan river. At the museum various periods can be viewed in chronological order and floor mosaics belonging to a Basilica located within the boundaries of the Misis Ancient City is exhibited in situ.
