Larissa, Turkey

Larissa is an ancient city in western Anatolia, Turkey. It is in the immediate vicinity of Menemen, in the district of İzmir province. The ruins of the city are on a hill top next to today's Buruncuk village. The main road to Çanakkale from İzmir skirts the same hill, making a considerable curve to the northwest.

Temnos

Temnos (also Temnus) was a small Greek city-state, on the western coast of Anatolia. The name survives as a Catholic titular see. When Temnos was a functioning diocese, its bishop was a suffragan of Ephesus. Temnos was a little town of Aeolia, near the Hermus River, which is shown on its coins. Situated at elevation it commanded the territories of Cyme, Phocaea, and Smyrna.

Izmir Province

Izmir Province is a province of Turkey in western Anatolia on the Aegean coast, whose capital is the city of Izmir. On the west it is surrounded by the Aegean sea, and it encloses the Gulf of İzmir. Its area is 11,973 km. , population 3.948.848 (2010 tüik census). The population was 3,370,866 in 2000. Neighbouring provinces are Balıkesir on the north, Manisa on the east, and Aydın on the south. Gulf of İzmir

The Gulf of İzmir, formerly known as the Gulf of Smyrna, is a gulf on the Aegean Sea, with its inlet between the peninsula of Karaburun and the mainland area of Foça. It is 40 miles (32 km) in length by 20 miles (16 km) in breadth, with an excellent anchorage. The city of Izmir, an important Turkish seaport, surrounds the end of this gulf. Levent Marina is the only marina inside the city of İzmir. On the southern shore 38º 24' 40 N 27º 04' 01 E coordinates.
