The 1979 Dniprodzerzhynsk mid-air collision refers to the mid-air collision of two Aeroflot Tupolev Tu-134s that took place on 11 August 1979 over the Ukrainian SSR, near Dniprodzerzhynsk. All 178 occupants of both aircraft perished in the accident.

Petrykivka
Petrykivka is an urban-type settlement in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in east-central Ukraine. There are about 5 thousand inhabitants. It is famous as a folk art centre and for its unique style of decorative painting. According to legend, the settlement was founded by the Cossack Petryk, who gathered under his protection the serfs from the local villages.

The modern name is appropriated on January, 1 1904 in honour first chief Ekaterininskoy railway, engineer Verkhivtseve. The settlement of Verkhivtseve got status of city in 1956.
