Zorokiv

Zorokiv is a village in the Cherniakhiv region of Zhytomyr Oblast in west-central Ukraine, approximately 16 km. from the provincial capital of Zhytomir. One of the oldest settlements in the region, it is known for the St. Basil the Great Church which was built in 1772. The current population of Zorokiv is approximately 310. Zorokiv was the birthplace of Ukrainian writer and journalist Julian Movchan and ancestral home of his family.

Chervonoarmiisk

Chervonoarmiisk, until 1935 called Pulyny or Pulin, is a town in Chervonoarmiisk Raion, Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Chervonoarmiisk Raion. The population was 5,435 as of 2008. The town was first mentioned in the middle of the twelfth century under the name Chortolisy. In the annals there was a mention of a "Devil's Wood" nearby, which presumably lies behind the name; it was so called because of impenetrable thickets, swamps, and the debris of dead trees.

Zhytomyr

Zhytomyr is a city in the North of the western half of Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Zhytomyr Oblast, as well as the administrative center of the surrounding Zhytomyr Raion. Note that the city of Zhytomyr is not a part of the Zhytomyr raion: the city itself is designated as its own separate raion within the oblast; moreover Zhytomyr consists of two so-called "raions in a city": the Bohunskyi raion and the Koroliovskyi raion (named in honour of Sergey Korolyov).
