Bishopthorpe Palace

Bishopthorpe Palace is a stately home and historic house at Bishopthorpe south of York in the City of York unitary authority and ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. It is on the River Ouse and is the official residence of the Archbishop of York; within the local area it is sometimes simply called "the Archbishop's Palace". In the 13th century, Archbishop Grey bought the manor house at what was then St. Andrewthorpe and gave it to the Dean and Chapter of York Minster.

Knavesmire Secondary School

Knavesmire Secondary School was a comprehensive school based in York, England from the 1960s (circa 1965) to the 1980s. During the 1960s it was a girls only school. The building was located on Bishopthorpe Road next to York Racecourse, and is now The College of Law. The author Sheelagh Kelly attended the school during the 1960s.

Askham Bog

Askham Bog is an area of peat bog in the Vale of York in North Yorkshire, England, south of the city of York, north of Copmanthorpe and close to Askham Bryan and Askham Richard. Part of the bog is maintained by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust as a nature reserve and is their oldest reserve.
