Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre

The Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre is a heritage centre based at Ruddington, Nottinghamshire, the terminus of the northern section of the Great Central Railway (GCRN). The site includes locomotive and rolling stock workshops (accessible to the public), as well as cafeteria and shops. Also on-site is a miniature railway operated by the Nottingham Society of Model and Experimental Engineers (NSMEE). The site also has a Model Railway club and building housing local historic buses.

Rushcliffe Country Park

Rushcliffe Country Park is an open park space covering approximately 210 acres, located on Mere Way just south of Ruddington on the A60 in the borough of Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire. The park is free to enter & attracts approximately 250,000 visitors a year. Rushcliffe Country Park has maintained the Green Flag award for two years; the national standard for parks & green spaces in the United Kingdom & Wales.

Ruddington railway station

Ruddington is a disused railway station on the Great Central Main Line south of Nottingham. The line had branches that ran to the now decommissioned Ruddington Depot. It was originally a standard GCR country island type station, like those surviving at Quorn and Woodhouse and Rothley, accessed from a road overbridge. The station buildings have been demolished though the island platform still survives.

Basford Rural District

Basford was an rural district close to Nottingham, England, from 1894 to 1974. The district consisted of two detached parts, to the north and south of Nottingham. It was created under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the existing Basford rural sanitary district. The Nottingham suburb of Basford was not part of the rural district, having been added to Nottingham in 1877. Bilborough, Wollaton and parts of both Bestwood Park and Colwick were transferred to the City of Nottingham in 1933.
