Buckrose was a wapentake of the historic East Riding of Yorkshire, England consisting of the north-west part of the county; its territory is now partly in the modern East Riding and partly in North Yorkshire. Kirkham, North Yorkshire
Kirkham is a village in North Yorkshire, England, close to Malton, situated in the Howardian Hills alongside the River Derwent, and is notable for the nearby ruins of Kirkham Priory, an Augustinian establishment. Kirkham was served by Kirkham Abbey railway station on the York to Scarborough Line between 1845 and 1930. John Oxley (1785-1828), an explorer of south east Australia, was born here.

Painsthorpe Abbey was a monastery of the Anglican Order of St. Benedict. It was established at Painsthorpe in the East Riding of Yorkshire by Aelred Carlyle, a friend of Charles Chapman Grafton, Episcopal Bishop of Fond du Lac and an inspiration for Alfred Hope Patten.
