Thackley Tunnel
Thackley tunnel is a railway tunnel on the Airedale Line from Leeds to Shipley then on to Bradford or Skipton. Built in 1844/5, the tunnel is approximately 1,300 yards long and cut through the prominent Thackley Hill to reduce travel time. The contractor chosen to build the Tunnel was James Bray, an iron and brass founder from Leeds who later contracted the construction of the Bramhope Tunnel on the Leeds to Thirsk main line.

Idle and Thackley
Idle and Thackley (population 14,541 - 2001 UK census) is a Ward in Bradford Metropolitan District in the county of West Yorkshire, England, named after the villages of Idle and Thackley around which it is drawn. As well as the villages of Idle and Thackley, the ward includes the villages of Apperley Bridge, Greengates and a small part of the Thorpe Edge housing estate.
