Elswick, Lancashire
Elswick is a rural village and civil parish in the English county of Lancashire, situated on the coastal plain called the Fylde. As of the 2001 United Kingdom census, the parish had a population of 1,057. At the time of the Norman conquest of England in 1066, Elswick was a small agricultural community in the hundred of Amounderness. The village was originally part of the ecclesiastical parish of St Michael's on Wyre. A Nonconformist chapel was built in Elswick before 1650.

The Fylde
The Fylde; Scandinavian: "field" is a coastal plain in western Lancashire, England. It is roughly a 13-mile (20-kilometre) square-shaped peninsula, bounded by Morecambe Bay to the north, the Ribble estuary to the south, the Irish Sea to the west, and the Bowland hills to the east. The eastern boundary is approximately the location of the M6 motorway. It is a flat, alluvial plain; parts were once dug for peat, and it is the western part of an area formerly known as Amounderness.
