Kirkbride railway station

Kirkbride was a stone and brick built railway station with a single platform on the Carlisle and Silloth Bay Railway on the Solway Plain in Cumbria. The station opened by the Carlisle and Silloth Bay Railway in August 1856 with the line's extension to Silloth. The North British Railway in leased the line and the station in 1862 and subsequently took it over in 1880.

Kirkbride, Cumbria

Kirkbride is a village and civil parish in Cumbria in the north west of England. Significant remains of ancient history are close to Kirkbride including the Kirkbride Roman fort and Hadrian's Wall. Hadrian's Wall in this western reach and the Kirkbride fort were predominantly of turf and timber construction due to the paucity of available stone in this part of England around the Solway Plain.

Aikton

Aikton is a small village in the north of the English county of Cumbria. There is a pub, phonebox and postbox; but no shops. The local church, St Andrew's, is over 900 years old, and is one of the oldest in the region. Pevsner says that it has a "solid C12 w[est est] front" and details Norman and Early English Period work on the church. " Many houses in Aikton have views of the Lake District. The surrounding area is almost entirely farmland, containing cows usually.
