Dornock

Dornock is a small Scottish village in Dumfries and Galloway, situated about one mile west of Eastriggs and two miles east of Annan. Dornock is built on land which is 10 to 20 metres above sea level. Dornock Burn runs east of the village and the railway between Annan and Gretna is north of the village. The mud and sand banks of the Solway Firth are less than one mile away to the south.

Battle of Annan

The Battle of Annan, known in the sources as the Camisade of Annan took place on December 16, 1332. It took place at Annan, Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland. In it the Bruce loyalist supporters of King David II of Scotland surprised Edward Balliol and his supporters while they were in bed, and completely threw them out of Scotland.

Battle of Annan Moor

The Battle of Annan Moor was a battle of the Scottish civil war, part of the intertwined Wars of the Three Kingdoms that took place in England, Ireland, and Scotland between 1639 and 1651. The battle took place on 20 and 21 October 1645 between the Royalists under Lord Digby and Marmaduke Langdale against the newly-raised cavalry regiment commanded by Sir John Brown of Fordell. The Royalists were defeated and lost more than half of their 600 men as casualties or prisoners.
