Derwenthorpe
Derwenthorpe is a controversial housing development planned to be built on the edge of York, England. The Joseph Rowntree Foundation have submitted plans to build 500 homes on land west of Metcalf Lane. The development was originally to be called New Osbaldwick but was changed to be named after the Derwent Valley Light Railway that used to run along the site. The site is located between the villages of Osbaldwick, Heworth and Tang Hall.

Siward's Howe
Siward's Howe, also known as Heslington Hill, is a terminal moraine located to the south-east of the city of York. Its imposing water tower is visible from many parts of the nearby suburbs of Tang Hall and Osbaldwick. The hill is named for Siward, the Danish warrior romanticised in Macbeth, who is rumoured to be buried beneath the tumuli at the wooded summit. The southern side of the Howe is part of the campus of the University of York.

Alcuin College
Alcuin College is a college of the University of York. The Seebohm Rowntree Building was added in 2002. Sitting upon Siward's Howe, it has throughout the life of the University been the home of the self-styled Alcuin Separatist Movement, a running gag at York, involving the secession of the college from the remainder of the university.

Heslington Church
Heslington Church is in the parish (and village) of Heslington, near York, England. As well as the village and some more modern housing estates, the church also serves some outlying farms. The Heslington campus of the University of York is also in the parish. It is a local ecumenical partnership between the Church of England and the Methodist Church, making it one of few joint Methodist/Anglican churches.
