Troutbeck Park

Troutbeck Park is a farm to the north of Troutbeck village in South Lakeland, Cumbria. In 1923, there was a risk of it being sold for development, so Beatrix Potter bought it and kept it as a working farm. She bred Herdwick sheep there, and became president of the Herdwick Sheep Breeders' Association. It was one of the fourteen farms which Beatrix Potter left to the National Trust when she died in 1943.

Troutbeck is a village in South Lakeland district in Cumbria. It is 3 miles north of Windermere town, to the west of the A592 road. It is a conservation area and includes the National Trust property of Townend.

Trout Beck

The Trout Beck is a fast flowing river of the Lake District in North West England. It is one of the main sources of replenishment for Windermere. Its name comes from Old Norse and appears in documents from 1292 as Trutebyk. The river rises between the peaks of Stony Cove Pike and Thornthwaite Crag in the High Street range, at a height of about 1970 feet (600 m). Several tributaries flowing from the crags to the west of the High Street Roman road combine to form the young Trout Beck.

Townend

Townend is a 17th-century house located in Troutbeck, Windermere, Cumbria, England, and in the ownership of the National Trust. It was donated to the Trust in 1948. Prior to this it was the home of the Browne family, local farmers, for 400 years. Although not the sort of stately home usually associated with the National Trust, it does provide an insight into the life of a reasonably wealthy farming family.

Staveley, Cumbria

Staveley is a village in the District of South Lakeland in Cumbria, England. It is situated 4 miles northwest of Kendal where the River Kent is joined by its tributary the Gowan. It is also known as Staveley-in-Westmorland and Staveley-in-Kendal to distinguish it from Staveley-in-Cartmel (a small village near Newby Bridge which is now in Cumbria but was previously in Lancashire).
