Mapledurham Lock

Mapledurham Lock is a lock and weir situated on the River Thames in England. The lock was first built in 1777 by the Thames Navigation Commissioners and the present lock dates from 1908. Despite its name, the lock is located in the Berkshire village and civil parish of Purley-On-Thames on the south bank of the river, rather than in the Oxfordshire village of Mapledurham on the other side of the river. The weir stretches across the river, in both counties.

Denefield School

Denefield School is a secondary school located in Tilehurst, Reading, Berkshire, England. Originally called Long Lane Comprehensive school after its location, Its name was later changed to avoid confusion with a primary school of the same name. The school was founded in 1976 and opened with 180 students in Year 7. The Sixth form took its first students in 1981. Since then Denefield has continued to grow, with approximately 1,200 students attending during the 2005-2006 school year.

Arthur Newbery Park

Arthur Newbery Park is a park in Tilehurst, Reading, Berkshire. It is named after Arthur Newbery, who donated the land in 1932. It is one of Reading's oldest parks and was once part of Kentwood Common. Hollows in the park are remains of chalk and clay pits. The park slopes down to the north giving views to the River Thames and across its valley. It is mainly grass, with scattered trees, although there are small wooded areas and a play area.

Reading and Leeds Festivals

The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend, sharing the same bill. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near the Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of an historic house.
