West Dean, Wiltshire

West Dean is a small village in Wiltshire, England. The village was mentioned in the Cartularium saxonicum for the year 880 as (æt) Deone, as Duene in the Domesday Book, as Westdone in 1265, and as Westdune in 1270. Borbach Chantry was built in 1333. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building and is now in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

Bentley Wood

Bentley Wood, together with the adjacent Blackmoor Copse, situated close to the Hampshire /Wiltshire border near the village of West Tytherley form one of the largest contiguous areas of woodland in Wiltshire, England. An area of 665 hectares of the wood was notified as a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1985 The site is very important for butterflies, with species present including Purple Emperor, White Admiral and Pearl-bordered Fritillary.

Blackmoor Copse

Blackmoor Copse is a woodland in Wiltshire, managed as a nature reserve by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. A 31.3-hectare area of the wood was notified as a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1971. The site is adjacent to another, larger, woodland SSSI, Bentley Wood.
