The school was created out of a merger of Parkwood and Brickhill Middle Schools in the early 1990s. It is the only middle school serving the Brickhill and Harpur areas. The name Beauchamp derives from the de Beauchamp family who held the Barony of Bedford and owned Bedford Castle in medieval times.
