It is between Ballymena (18 kilometres to the south) and Ballymoney (10 kilometres to the north west). It had a population of 1,071 people in the 2001 Census, a gain of 21% since 1991. Dunloy's most striking building is the modern Roman Catholic church. The village also has several shops, two pubs, a bakery, and a credit union.
