Monteviot House

Monteviot House is the early 18th century home of the Marquess of Lothian, the politician better known as Michael Ancram. It is located on the River Teviot near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. Nearby are Ancrum, Bonjedward, the Timpendean Tower, Peniel Heugh, the Waterloo Monument, the Borders Abbeys Way and the St. Cuthbert's Way. In the late 20th century the 12th Marquess repurchased and restored the old family seat of Ferniehirst Castle.

Battle of Ancrum Moor

The Battle of Ancrum Moor was fought during the War of the Rough Wooing in 1545. The Scottish victory put a temporary end to English depredations in the Scottish border and lowlands. The battlefield has been inventoried and protected by Historic Scotland under the Historic Environment (Amendment) Act 2011.

Waterloo Monument

The Waterloo Monument near Ancrum in the Scottish Borders is a 150 foot tower, built between 1817 and 1824 to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo. It was designed by the architect Archibald Elliot, after the original monument designed by William Burn collapsed. The monument stands on Peniel Heugh, OS ref: NT 653263, a hill between Ancrum and Nisbet, Roxburghshire.

Jed Water

The Jed Water is a river and a tributary of the River Teviot in the Borders region of Scotland. In total Jed Water is over 20 miles long, it flows into the Teviot near Jedfoot Bridge from a source in the Cheviot Hills. The river means a lot to the town as it gives it beauty and attracts tourists, but in past times it was the main source of water for the monks living in Jedburgh Abbey which sits behind the river.

Riverside Park, Jedburgh

Riverside Park, Jedburgh is the home of Jedforest Rugby Football Club and is situated just to the north of the town boundary on Edinburgh Road. It has been the home of Jed-Forest RFC for the majority of the club's existence (the very first few matches were played at Lothian Park. It has one all seater stand underneath which are the changing rooms, an extension which houses the gym and a small ramshackle stand opposite.
