RAF Angle

RAF Angle was a World War II RAF station in South West Wales, near the village of Angle, Pembrokeshire. It was opened in December 1941 and closed in early 1945. It was initially used by 32 Squadron flying the Hurricane I. In November 1941 they were replaced by 615 Squadron, and the Hurricane IIC. Several Squadrons followed: 312 Squadron flew the Spitfire VB, 263 Squadron with the Whirlwind, then 152, 421 and 412 Squadrons occupied the base, flying the Spitfire VB.

Stack Rock Fort

Stack Rock Fort is a Royal Commission fort built on a small island in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire. A Grade II* Listed Building, it was built between 1859 and 1871 with 16 10" and 7 9" RMLs, changed to 4 12 pdr QF guns in 1902. Disarmed in 1929, it was placed on the market in 2005 for £150,000, and has been sold.

Milford Haven Waterway

This article is about the waterway, see Milford Haven for the town. Milford Haven Waterway is a natural harbour in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. The Haven is a ria or drowned valley flooded at the end of the last Ice Age. formed by the Pembroke River and the Daugleddau estuary, and winds west to the sea. As one of the deepest natural harbours in the world, it is a busy shipping channel, trafficked by ferries from Pembroke Dock to Ireland, oil tankers and pleasure craft.

Popton Fort

Popton Fort, a Grade II* Listed Building, is a Palmerston fort completed in 1864 as part of the inner line of defence of Milford Haven together with Fort Hubberstone on the opposite bank. It comprises two batteries, Moncrieff Battery on the west side and Open Battery on the north. Abandoned at the start of the 20th century it was used again during the Second World War. Bought in 1957 by BP to be used as an oil terminal it was renovated but was closed to the public.

Freshwater West

Freshwater West (also known as Fresh West) is a beach near Castlemartin, Pembrokeshire in West Wales. It lies along the B4319 road, near Castlemartin range and is part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. At almost a mile long, Freshwater West flanked by extensive sand dunes and rock pools. Despite its natural beauty, Freshwater West is unsuitable for bathing due to strong offshore swells and strong currents.
