Buccleuch, Scottish Borders

Buccleuch is a hamlet in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, in the former Selkirkshire. It is located off the B711, on the Rankle Burn, to the north of the Craik Forest, by Phenzhopehaugh Hill. The Buccleuch name comes from 'Buck Cleugh' which is a little to the east of the hamlet which was the original dwelling place of the Scott family of. They became Barons of Buccleuch in 1606, then earls (1619) and dukes in 1663.

Craik, Scottish Borders

Craik is a village in Craik Forest, by the Airhouse Burn in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, close to Roberton, Scottish Borders on the B711. OS Grid Ref NT353080. The area is renowned for its red squirrel population, and for its Roman history.

Alemoor Loch

Alemoor Loch is a small reservoir in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. It is situated on the Ale Water, 10 kilometres west of Hawick. The loch is approximately 2 kilometres long, and is divided in two by a causeway which carries the B711 road. In the 19th century, the loch was recorded as being round in shape, 0.4 kilometres across, and up to 55 metres deep.
