Annandale
Annandale is a strath in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, named after the River Annan. It runs north-south through the Southern Uplands from Annanhead to Annan on the Solway Firth and in its higher reaches it separates the Moffat hills on the east from the Lowther hills to the west. A 53 mile long-distance walking route called Annandale Way running through Annandale (from the source of the River Annan to the sea) was opened in September 2009.

Johnstonebridge
Johnstonebridge is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is roughly halfway between Moffat and Lockerbie, and lies on the A74(M) motorway. The Annandale Water Services on the motorway are in Johnstonebridge; prior to the construction of the motorway there were services on the old A74 road there, one to serve each direction of the road. As with most of Annandale, the area is largely devoted to farming.

Annandale Water services is a motorway service station in the village of Johnstonebridge, Scotland. The service station is located next to the A74(M) motorway and is accessed using motorway junction 16 in both the northbound and southbound directions. It is owned by RoadChef. It was first opened in 1973 by popular actor Rodney Bewes.

Annandale Water
Annandale Water is a loch in Annandale, Dumfries and Galloway, in the south west of Scotland. It is part of Annandale Water service station at Junction 16 of the A74(M), close to Johnstonebridge, Dinwoodie and Newton Wamphray, and halfway between Moffat and Lockerbie. Before the opening of the Motorway service station, the old A74 road was adjacent to the loch and farmland.

Corncockle Quarry
Corncockle Quarry was a large and historically important sandstone quarry near Templand in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Stone from here was used in the late Victorian era to build tenements in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and also to construct New York 'brownstones'. The sandstone dates from the Permian Age and dinosaur footprints were found there in the 19th century. The stone is currently extracted by Dunhouse. At its peak the quarry was connected to the Caledonian Main Line by a mineral railway.
