Mount Stuart House

Mount Stuart House on the east coast of the Isle of Bute, Scotland is a Neo-Gothic country house with extensive gardens. Mount Stuart was designed by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson for the 3rd Marquess of Bute in the late 1870s, to replace an earlier house by Alexander McGill, which burnt down in 1877.

Mount Stuart visitor centre

The Mount Stuart visitor centre on the Bute estate, near Rothsay on the Island of Bute was designed by the architect Alfred Munkenbeck of Munkenbeck + Marshall and was opened by Richard Attenborough in June 2001.

Loch Ascog

Loch Ascog is a small reservoir on the east coast of the island of Bute, in the council area of Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The loch supplies water to the town of Rothesay and the fishing rights are held by the Isle of Bute Angling Association. Loch Ascog is 44.7 hectares in extent. To the west is the much larger Loch Fad.

Rothesay Academy

Rothesay Academy is a secondary school in the town of Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. It has 3 associated primary schools: Rothesay Primary School and St. Andrew’s Primary in Rothesay and North Bute Primary in Port Bannatyne. The school as an institution first opened in 1870, though the present building is much newer, dating to 2007.

Bute FM

Bute FM is a Community Radio station for the Isle of Bute, broadcasting in stereo on 96.5 FM and simultaneously broadcasting online via a live internet stream here. For almost 100 hours per week the station broadcasts programmes produced by volunteer presenters, with the remaining airtime occupied by an automated music playout system.
