Westwater Reservoir
Westwater Reservoir is an artificial reservoir in the Pentland Hills, Scottish Borders, 3 km west of West Linton, and 26 km south west of Edinburgh. It forms part of the Lothian region water supply and is located 320 m above sea level. Due to its popularity with Pink-footed Geese (Anser brachyrhynchus) it has been designated as a Special Protection Area and a Ramsar site.

Carlops
Carlops (Scottish Gaelic: Leum na Caillich) is a small village in the Pentland Hills, within the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, close to the boundary with Midlothian. The village was founded in 1784 and developed cotton weaving, coalmining and limestone mining. The name derives from "Witches' Leap" as near the south of the village there are two exposed rock faces about 20 metres in height facing each other with a similar distance between them.
