St Dogmells Rural District

St Dogmells was a rural district in the administrative county of Pembrokeshire, Wales from 1894 to 1934. The district was created by the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of Cardigan Rural Sanitary District in Pembrokeshire, and consisted of seventeen civil parishes (see below). It continued to be administered from Cardigan. It was abolished in 1934, when a county review order amalgamated it with Llanfyrnach RD to form Cemaes RD. List of Parishes:

St Dogmaels Abbey

St Dogmael's Abbey is an abbey in St Dogmaels in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It was founded about 1115 for a prior and twelve monks of the Tironensian Order. The founders were Robert fitz Martin and his wife, Maud Peverel (sister of William Peverel the younger, d.1149). The buildings are now mostly ruins, though extensive walls and arches remain. The abbey is close to Cardigan and Poppit Sands.

St Dogmaels

St Dogmaels is a village and community in Pembrokeshire, Wales, on the estuary of the River Teifi, a mile downstream from the town of Cardigan in neighbouring Ceredigion. A little to the west of the village, further along the estuary, lies Poppit Sands beach. The village contains the remains of a 12th century Tironian abbey, which was in its day one of the richer monastic institutions in Wales. It was once a marcher borough.

Pembrokeshire Coast Path

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path (Welsh: Llwybr Arfordir Sir Benfro), also often called the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, is a designated National Trail in Pembrokeshire, southwest Wales. It was established in 1970, and is 186 miles (300 km) long, mostly at cliff-top level, with a total of 35,000 feet (11,000 m) of ascent and descent. At its highest point – Pen yr afr – it reaches a height of 175 m (574 ft), and at its lowest point – Sandy Haven crossing – it is just 2m above low water.
