Cardigan Island

Cardigan Island is a small, uninhabited island lying north of Cardigan, in Ceredigion, south-west Wales. It reaches a height of 52 m (171 ft) a.s.l. Lying in the estuary of the River Teifi, it is known for having a small colony of grey seals. It is within 200 metres of the Welsh coastline near Gwbert. It is owned and managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. The island was once the home of puffins and Manx shearwater.

Battle of Crug Mawr

The Battle of Crug Mawr took place in September or October 1136, as part of a struggle for control of Ceredigion which had been captured by the Normans. A Welsh revolt against Norman rule had begun in south Wales, where on 1 January 1136 the Welsh won a victory over the local Norman forces at the Battle of Llwchwr between Loughor and Swansea, killing about 500 of their opponents.

Cardigan County Secondary School

Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi is a bi-lingual secondary school in Cardigan, Ceredigion, Wales. It offers secondary education from age 11 to 18, incorporating GCSE's and A-Levels in its sixth form. The motto is Egni a Lwydd (Energy Succeeds). It is one of the few schools in the county to offer the study of Italian. The school will appear on S4C's Hip neu Sgip?: Yn erbyn y cloc in 2011, as part of a garden makeover item which took place at the school in September 2010.

Poppit Sands

Poppit Sands is primarily known as a sandy Blue Flag beach in northern Pembrokeshire, Wales It lies on the estuary of the River Teifi near Cardigan, and is adjacent to St. Dogmael's beach, at its eastern estuary end. The nearest village is St Dogmaels, and it offers views across the estuary and bay towards Gwbert and Cardigan Island. Apart from the beach, it is also a small, dispersed settlement.
