Penmachno

Penmachno is a village in the isolated upland valley of Cwm Penmachno, 4 miles south of Betws-y-Coed in the county of Conwy, north Wales. It is renowned as the home of Bishop William Morgan (1545–1604), who lived at Tŷ Mawr, Y Wybrnant, near the village. He was one of the leading scholars of his day, having mastered Hebrew in addition to Latin and Greek. He was the first to translate the Bible in its entirety into Welsh.

Llyn Conwy

Llyn Conwy (SH780462) is a lake in the county of Conwy in central north Wales. It is the source of the River Conwy which, on flowing south out of the lake, swings round to then generally flow in a northerly direction for a distance of some 27 miles to its discharge in Conwy Bay. Llyn Conwy lies at a height of about 1,488 ft, with a maximum depth of 16 feet, and is by far the biggest lake of the Migneint moors, an extensive area of blanket mire with high rainfall - about 260 cm p.a.

River Machno

The River Machno is a river in Snowdonia, North Wales. It is the first major tributary of the River Conwy, which it joins south of Betws-y-coed, just past the impressive Penmachno Falls. It has its source in the slopes at the head of the Penmachno valley, and flows through the villages of Cwm Penmachno and Penmachno.

River Lledr

The River Lledr is a river in North Wales and the second major tributary of the River Conwy. The Lledr has its source on the eastern slopes of Ysgafell Wen, which lies between Moel Siabod and Cnicht. It flows in a north-easterly direction towards Blaenau Dolwyddelan, where Ceunant Ty'n y Ddol joins it, then flows under the so-called Roman Bridge and past Dolwyddelan, where Afon Penamnen joins it.
