Winer Observatory

Winer Observatory is an astronomical observatory near Sonoita, Arizona in the United States. It is a private, non-profit observatory, operated by Mark Trueblood since 1983. It has been the site of a number of significant small telescopes and famous robotic telescopes. It has been the site of the Iowa Robotic Observatory. The facility also hosted Michael Schwartz's telescope, active in supernova patrols, until Tenagra Observatories opened a facility in the area.

Sonoita, Arizona

Sonoita is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Cruz County, Arizona, United States. The population was 818 at the 2010 census. The origin of the name of the CDP is the O'odham Ṣon ʼOidag, which may be best translated as "spring field". (There are several places that the O'odham call Ṣon ʼOidag within 200 km of this place, all agricultural spots. ) Sonoita has for many years been a popular place for wealthy Arizonans to establish vacation and retirement homes and ranches.

Iron Springs (Cochise County, Arizona)

Iron Springs is historical name of a natural spring in the Whetstone Mountains of Arizona, now known as Mescal Springs. The site is known as that of the confrontation between Wyatt Earp and William Brocius on March 24, 1882. The site was then known as Iron Springs, but on later maps the designation is Mescal Springs. This location in the Whetstone Mountains is in Cochise County, Arizona as opposed to the town of Iron Springs, Arizona in Yavapai County.

Canelo Hills

The Canelo Hills are a range of low mountains or hills in eastern Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The range consists of a series of northwest–southeast trending ridges extending from the Sonoita Creek valley southwest of Sonoita to the Parker Canyon Lake area in southwest Cochise County, Arizona. The Canelo Hills merge with the Huachuca Mountains to the southeast. The San Rafael Valley lies to the southwest of the range and the Patagonia Mountains lie to the west across the Harshaw Creek valley.
