Searles Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The CDP includes the unincorporated communities of Argus, Pioneer Point, Searles Valley and Trona. Searles Valley is at the western edge of Searles Lake, a dry lakebed at the bottom of in Searles Valley, southwest of Death Valley. The name Trona is derived from the mineral trona, abundant in the lake. It is about 170 miles northeast of Los Angeles, on State Route 178.

The evaporite basin is approximately 19 km long and 13 km at its widest point, yielding 1.7 million tons annually of industrial minerals within the basin to the Searles Valley Minerals mining operations.
