Shackelford is a census-designated place (CDP) in Stanislaus County, California, United States. The population was 3,371 at the 2010 census, down from 5,170 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area. Modesto officially annexed Shackelford on June 1, 2012.

John Thurman Field

John Thurman Field is a stadium in Modesto, California. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field of the Modesto Nuts minor league baseball team of the California League. It was built in 1955 and holds 4,000 people. It was later named for California State Assemblyman John Thurman, from Modesto. There has been talk about making a new stadium around the general area and although the issue remains inconclusive, a decision is expected sometime before 2012.

California's 10th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California. Jeff Denham, a Republican and former State Senator, has represented the district since January 2013. Currently, the 10th district encompasses the San Joaquin Valley. It is centered on Modesto. It consists of Stanislaus County plus portions of San Joaquin County. Cities in the district include Oakdale, Manteca, Modesto, Tracy, and Turlock.
