Red Cliff, Colorado

Red Cliff (sometimes spelled Redcliff) is a Statutory Town in Eagle County, Colorado, United States. The population was 289 at the 2000 census. The town is a former mining camp situated in the canyon of the upper Eagle River just off U.S. Highway 24 north of Tennessee Pass. The town site is concealed below the highway (which passes over the Red Cliff Truss Bridge) and is accessible by a side road leading to Shrine Pass in the Sawatch Range.

Red Cliff Bridge

Red Cliff Bridge (also known as the Eagle River Bridge) is an arch bridge near Vail, Colorado that carries U.S. Route 24 over the Eagle River and the former Union Pacific Railroad track over Tennessee Pass. It is one of only two steel arch bridges within the entire state and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (reference number 85000204). The bridge was designed by King Burghardt and built in 1940.

Blue Sky Basin

Blue Sky Basin is the most recent expansion to Vail Ski Resort in Colorado in the United States. It is the most debated and controversial ski area expansion in Colorado history. It opened to skiers in 2000 despite conflict about whether the expansion would endanger the lynx, a mountain cat re-introduced into the Colorado wilds.

Camp Hale

Camp Hale, between Red Cliff and Leadville in the Eagle River valley in Colorado, was a U.S. Army training facility constructed in 1942 for what became the 10th Mountain Division. It was named for General Irving Hale. Soldiers were trained in mountain climbing, Alpine and Nordic skiing, cold-weather survival as well as various weapons and ordnance. When it was in full operation, approximately 15,000 soldiers were housed there.
