Heeney, Colorado

Heeney is a census-designated place in northern Summit County, Colorado, United States. The population as of the 2010 Census was 76. It is situated on the hillside along the west side of Green Mountain Reservoir, in the valley of the Blue River, between Kremmling and Silverthorne. It is accessible by a county road from State Highway 9.

Green Mountain Reservoir

Green Mountain Reservoir lies at the northern end of Summit County, Colorado along the Blue River. The Green Mountain Dam was built between 1938 and 1942 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation as part of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project. The reservoir and its dam store water that is diverted to the cities in the Front Range Urban Corridor. Behind the dam is a hydroelectric power plant that has a 25.8 megawatt capacity. The reservoir has a capacity of 154,645 acre feet of water.

Sheephorn, Colorado

Sheephorn is an isolated, unincorporated community in Eagle County, Colorado, located at an elevation of 7,972 feet. Near the border of Eagle County and Grand County, Sheephorn is sparsely populated and is composed of several ranches, the largest being Piney Peak Ranch, previously known as the Sheephorn Ranch. Sheephorn was homesteaded in the mid-1800s by a handful of families that were cattle ranchers.
