Berkeley Park

Berkeley Park is a neighborhood located in West Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Berkeley Park was established in 1921, and for a time was considered a part of Underwood Hills. In 1996, Berkeley Park was again recognized as an official neighborhood in the city of Atlanta. The neighborhood boundaries of Berkeley Park are I-75 to the north, Northside Drive on the east, Howell Mill Road to the west and 17th Street to the south.

Bluffton University bus accident

The Bluffton University bus accident was an automobile accident which occurred during the early morning hours of March 2, 2007, on Interstate 75 in Atlanta, Georgia. A chartered motorcoach was carrying 33 members of the Bluffton University baseball team from Bluffton, Ohio on their way to a tournament game during spring break in Sarasota, Florida. The group planned to travel without an overnight stop on the approximately 900-mile, 18-hour trip.

Westside Park

Westside Park is a proposed park in the City of Atlanta to be located on the site of the former Bellwood Quarry. The land, which had been owned by Fulton County, is currently in a long term lease to Vulcan Materials. On December 10, 2005, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin announced a plan to acquire the lease and the land in order to create a 351-acre park with a 45-acre lake which would also serve as a drinking water reservoir.

Battle of Peachtree Creek

The Battle of Peachtree Creek was fought in Georgia on July 20, 1864, as part of the Atlanta Campaign in the American Civil War. It was the first major attack by Lt. Gen. John B. Hood since taking command of the Confederate Army of Tennessee. The attack was against Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman's Union army which was perched on the doorstep of Atlanta. The main armies in the conflict were the Union Army of the Cumberland, commanded by Maj. Gen.

Peachtree Creek

Peachtree Creek is a major stream in Atlanta. It flows for 7.5 miles almost due west into the Chattahoochee River just south of Vinings. Like other "Peachtree" names in the area, the name is most likely a corruption of "pitch tree", from the area's many pines and their sticky sap. Peachtree Creek is an important part of the area history.
