Wilderness Road State Park

Wilderness Road State Park is a state park located in southwestern Virginia, near Cumberland Gap and Ewing, VA. It consists of about 310 acres around the former Wilderness Road. Within it stand the Karlan Mansion and a replica of the original Martin's Station fort.

Bell County, Kentucky

Bell County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It was formed August 1, 1867, from parts of Knox and Harlan Counties and augmented from Knox County in 1872. As of 2010 the population was 28,691. Its county seat is Pineville. The county is named for Joshua Fry Bell, and was originally called "Josh Bell" but shortened to "Bell" by 1880. Bell County is a dry county, meaning that the sale of alcohol is prohibited.

Ewing, Virginia

Ewing is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County, Virginia, United States. The population was 436 at the 2000 census. Ewing is one of the westernmost settlements in the state of Virginia, before reaching the Cumberland Gap, and the borders with Kentucky and Tennessee.

Cumberland Gap Tunnel

The Cumberland Gap Tunnel is a tunnel that carries U.S. Route 25E under Cumberland Gap National Historical Park near the intersection of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. The east portal of the tunnel is in Tennessee and the west portal is in Kentucky; according to United States Geological Survey maps of the area, the tunnel does not enter Virginia.

Cumberland Gap

Cumberland Gap (el. 1,600 ft) is a pass through the Cumberland Mountains region of the Appalachian Mountains, also known as the Cumberland Water Gap, at the junction of the U.S. states of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia. Famous in American history for its role as one key passageway through the lower central Appalachians, it was an important part of the Wilderness Road and is now part of the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.
