Prien is a census-designated place (CDP) in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 7,810 at the 2010 census and continues to grow. It is part of the Lake Charles Metropolitan Statistical Area. Some of the area has been annexed into the City of Lake Charles to facilitate growth.

Prien Lake

McNeese State University

McNeese State University is a public university located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in the United States. Founded in 1939 as a junior college, McNeese experienced growth due to economic activity in the region. It adopted its present name in 1970. McNeese is part of the University of Louisiana System and is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Master's University. U.S. News and World Report designates McNeese as a Tier One Regional University.

Cowboy Stadium

Cowboy Stadium is a 17,410-seat multi-purpose stadium in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It is home to the McNeese State Cowboys football team, and is affectionately referred to as "The Hole". It was transformed for the 2008 season to artificial turf. A new state of the art field house is currently being constructed. It will be nearly double its current size, and will include climate-controlled seating and a club room.

Israel LaFleur Bridge

The Israel LaFleur Bridge is a concrete pillar vehicular bridge located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The bridge was built in 1962 as part of the new Lake Charles Loop (a highway expansion that runs over the Calcasieu River, south of Lake Charles, and back up to Interstate 10). It is named after Israel LaFleur, the person who spearheaded the project to build it. The bridge is about 850 feet long, and 140 feet high. It is one of the tallest structures in southwest Louisiana.
