Gautier, Mississippi

Gautier is a city in Jackson County, Mississippi, along the Gulf of Mexico west of Pascagoula. It is part of the Pascagoula, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 18,572 at the 2010 census. In 2002, Gautier annexed land nearly doubling its population to 18,413, according to the Gautier Comprehensive Plan 2030. Locally, the name is pronounced as "GO-chay. " Descendants of the Gautier family, for whom it was named, still live in the area.

WOSM (FM)

WOSM is a radio station broadcasting a Southern Gospel music format. Licensed to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, USA, the station serves the Biloxi-Gulfport-Pascagoula area. The station is currently owned by Charles H. Cooper and features programing from AP Radio and Salem Communications. As Ocean Springs' first radio station, WOSM-FM covers local sports and community events in addition to gospel music and ministry.

Shepard State Park

Shepard State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is located off U.S. Highway 90 at Gautier, west of Pascagoula. Jackson County, Mississippi

Jackson County, Mississippi, is located at the southeastern tip of the state, bordering the state of Alabama on its east side. As of 2010, the population was 139,668. Its county seat is Pascagoula. Jackson County is named for U.S. President Andrew Jackson. Jackson County is included in the Pascagoula, Mississippi, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county was severely damaged from both Hurricane Camille in August 1969 and Hurricane Katrina on August 28–29, 2005, causing catastrophic effects.
