Lake Minatare Lighthouse

The Lake Minatare Lighthouse is a historic mock lighthouse located on Lake Minatare near the city of Scottsbluff in Nebraska. The 55-foot tower was built by the Veterans Conservation Corps in 1939 and is currently located within the North Platte National Wildlife Refuge. Designed as a combination shelter house and observation tower, it was "built to simulate a lighthouse. " According to Scotts Bluff County Tourism, it is one of only seven inland lighthouses in the United States.

D. A. Murphy Panhandle Arboretum

The D. A. Murphy Panhandle Arboretum (40 acres) is an arboretum located at the University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extension Center, 4502 Avenue I, Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The Arboretum was established in 1984 as the University of Nebraska Panhandle Arboretum, and in 1985 recognized as a Nebraska Statewide Arboretum affiliate. In 1987 the Arboretum was awarded a generous endowment from local businessman D. A. Murphy's estate and renamed in his honor.

Hiram Scott College

Hiram Scott College was a private liberal arts college that operated from 1965 to 1972 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Hiram Scott was one of several Midwestern colleges established by local civic leaders with the support and encouragement of Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. These Parsons "satellite schools" were by-products of the strong growth and apparent success of Parsons during the late 1950s and early 1960s, and all followed the "Parsons Plan" academic model developed at that school.

Scottsbluff, Nebraska

Scottsbluff is a city in Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 15,039 at the 2010 census. Scottsbluff is the largest city in the Nebraska Panhandle, and the 13th largest city in Nebraska. Scottsbluff was founded in 1900 across the North Platte River from its namesake, a bluff which is now a National Park called Scotts Bluff National Monument.
