Moapa River Indian Reservation is an Indian reservation located northeast of Las Vegas, near Moapa. It is the land-base for the Moapa Band of Paiute Indians, a local band of Southern Paiute Indians. Moapa River Indian Reservation consists of 71,954 acres (29,119 hectares). As of the year 2000, the population was 206. 80.1% of the population was American Indian.

The Moapa Band of Paiute Indians of the Moapa River Indian Reservation are a federally recognized tribe of Paiutes, who live in southern Nevada on the Moapa River Indian Reservation. They were in the past called the Moapats and the Nuwuvi.

KVEG (HOT 97.5) is a Rhythmic Contemporary Hit Radio station serving the Las Vegas area. The Kemp Broadcasting outlet operates at 97.5 MHz with an ERP of 100 kW and is licensed to Mesquite, Nevada. Its studios are located on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip, making it one of few media outlets located here, and its transmitter site is based near Moapa Valley.

Reid Gardner Generating Station

Reid Gardner Generating Station is a 557 megawatt coal fired plant on 480 acres located near Moapa, Nevada is co-owned by Nevada Power (69%) and California Department of Water Resources (31%). The plant consists of 4 units. The first 3 are 100 MW units and were placed into service in 1965, 1968, 1976. The other unit placed into service in 1983 produces 257 MW.
