Brewster is a village within the town of Southeast in Putnam County, New York, United States. Its population was 2,390 at the 2010 census. The village is the most densely populated portion of the town. The village is named for two early farmer landowners, Walter and James Brewster.

Brewster (Metro-North station)

The Brewster Metro-North Railroad station serves the residents of Brewster, New York via the Harlem Line. It is the southernmost station in Putnam County. Trains leave for New York City every hour, and about every 25 minutes during rush hour. It is 52 miles from Grand Central Terminal and travel time to Grand Central is approximately 1 hour, 24 minutes. This station is located in the Zone 7 Metro-North fare zone.

Southeast (Metro-North station)

Southeast (formerly known as Brewster North) is a Metro-North Railroad station serving the residents of Southeast, New York via the Harlem Line. Trains leave for New York City every hour, and about every 30 minutes during rush hour. It is the terminus of the Harlem Line electrified service. For travel farther north to Wassaic, passengers must transfer here to diesel powered service. Exceptions are rush hours and a direct round-trip to Grand Central on weekends.

East Branch Reservoir

East Branch Reservoir, formed by impounding the eponymous branch of the Croton River, is part of New York City's water supply network. It is located in the Putnam County town of Southeast, near the village of Brewster 35 miles (56 km) north of the city. It was placed into service in 1891, and holds 5.2 billion US gallons at full capacity.

Tilly Foster Mine

The Tilly Foster Mine was an iron mine two miles west of the village of Brewster, New York, along Route 6. The Tilly Foster Mine was named after Tillingham Foster, who bought the land that the mine was on from George Beale. After Foster's death in 1842, the property passed through several hands before it came into the possession of Harvey Iron and Steel Company. The mine opened in 1853 and employed large numbers of Irish and Italian immigrants.
