Glimmerglass State Park

Glimmerglass State Park is located north of Cooperstown, in Otsego County, New York, USA. Most of the park is located inside the Town of Springfield. The park is located at Hyde Bay on the east shore of Otsego Lake, which is the "Glimmerglass" of the Leatherstocking Tales of James Fenimore Cooper, Hyde Hall overlooks the bay and most of the grounds. The Park is open year-round.

Hyde Hall

Hyde Hall was the unusually large home—a neoclassical country mansion—of George Clarke, 1768–1835, heir of George Clarke (Governor). One of the finest American houses, it combines the architectural traditions of England and America. It is one of the few surviving works of the architect Philip Hooker. It is located on Otsego Lake, within Glimmerglass State Park. Hyde Hall Bridge is a covered bridge on its grounds, built with the house.

Cherry Valley is a village in Otsego County, New York, United States. The population was 520 at the 2010 census. The Village of Cherry Valley is in the Town of Cherry Valley. Cherry Valley is located about 13 miles northeast of Cooperstown and 8 miles east of the northern end of Otsego Lake.

Cherry Valley massacre

The Cherry Valley massacre was an attack by British and Iroquois forces on a fort and the village of Cherry Valley in eastern New York on November 11, 1778, during the American Revolutionary War. It has been described as one of the most horrific frontier massacres of the war. A mixed force of Loyalists, British soldiers, Seneca and Mohawks descended on Cherry Valley, whose defenders, despite warnings, were unprepared for the attack.
