Glimmerglass State Park

Glimmerglass State Park is located north of Cooperstown, in Otsego County, New York, USA. Most of the park is located inside the Town of Springfield. The park is located at Hyde Bay on the east shore of Otsego Lake, which is the "Glimmerglass" of the Leatherstocking Tales of James Fenimore Cooper, Hyde Hall overlooks the bay and most of the grounds. The Park is open year-round.

Hyde Hall

Hyde Hall was the unusually large home—a neoclassical country mansion—of George Clarke, 1768–1835, heir of George Clarke (Governor). One of the finest American houses, it combines the architectural traditions of England and America. It is one of the few surviving works of the architect Philip Hooker. It is located on Otsego Lake, within Glimmerglass State Park. Hyde Hall Bridge is a covered bridge on its grounds, built with the house.

Otsego Lake (New York)

Otsego Lake is a lake located in Otsego County, New York, in the USA and is the source of the Susquehanna River. Cooperstown, New York, is at the southern end. Glimmerglass State Park is located on the northeastern shore. Glimmerglass Opera is located on the western shore. The lake was known to James Fenimore Cooper as Glimmerglass and was a principal feature in his novels The Pioneers and The Deerslayer, in which one may find mention of such local landmarks as Council Rock and Sunken Island.

Richfield Springs, New York

Richfield Springs is a village located in the Town of Richfield, on the north-central border of Otsego County, New York. The population was 1,264 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from some local sulfur springs. The Village of Richfield Springs is in the northeast part of the town on US Route 20. Routes 22, 25, and 28 also converge on the community.
