Elwood is a hamlet in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 11,177 at the 2010 census. Elwood is a community in the Town of Huntington. At one time, the sign located at the corner of Elwood Road and Cuba Hill Road referred to Elwood as "The Heart Of Huntington. " However, the sign has since changed, now using an actual heart rather than the word.

Harborfields High School

Harborfields High School is a four year secondary school located in Greenlawn, New York. It functions as the high school for Harborfields Central School District, which serves the communities of Centerport and Greenlawn and parts of Huntington, Huntington Bay and Northport. The school is ranked 88 on the top 1300 high schools in America in the 2011 Newsweek rankings. The Class of 1960 was the first graduating class, with about 130 graduates from Centerport and Greenlawn only.

Long Island Arena

Long Island Arena (also commonly known as the Commack Arena) was a 4,000-seat indoor arena in Commack, New York from 1959 until 1996. The Long Island Ducks of the Eastern Hockey League, a popular team in the small community, called the Arena home from 1959 until the league folded in 1973, one year after the New York Islanders came into existence. The Long Island Cougars also played at the Long Island Arena from 1973 through 1975.
