Des Lacs is a city in Ward County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 204 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minot Micropolitan Statistical Area. Des Lacs was founded in 1888, named after the Riviere de Lacs, from the French for "River [of of] The Lakes."

Ward County, North Dakota

Ward County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2010 census, the population was 61,675. Its county seat is Minot. Ward County was created by the 1885 Dakota Territory legislature and named for Mark Ward, chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Counties during the session. The county government was first organized on November 23, 1885 with Burlington as the county seat. This was changed to Minot in 1888.

KMXA-FM "Mix 99.9" is an Adult Contemporary radio station in Minot, North Dakota owned by Clear Channel Communications. During the Christmas season "Mix 99.9" plays continuous Christmas music. The station begins playing the Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving and runs up until Christmas Day. Clear Channel also owns and operates KCJB 910, KRRZ 1390, KIZZ 93.7, KYYX 97.1, and KZPR 105.3 in Minot.

Burlington, North Dakota

Burlington is a city in Ward County, North Dakota, in the United States. Burlington was founded in 1883, having been third in a series that included two earlier settlements. Despite this, Burlington is still the oldest city in Ward County, as well as north-western and north central North Dakota. In 1885, as it was the only city in the then-newly formed Imperial Ward County, it was given the county seat, a position it held until 1888. The population was 1,060 at the 2010 census.
