Angostura Reservoir

Angostura Reservoir is a reservoir on the Cheyenne River in Fall River County, South Dakota, USA. It was created after the construction of Angostura Dam in 1949 for irrigation. "Angostura" means "narrows" in Spanish. The reservoir covers an area of 4,407 acres, has a surface elevation of 3,127 ft, and a maximum depth of 75 ft . The reservoir is the location of the Angostura Recreation Area and is a popular location for boating, swimming, and fishing.

Angostura Dam (U.S.)

Angostura Dam is a dam across the Cheyenne River in Fall River County in southwestern South Dakota in the United States, about 75 miles south of Rapid City. The dam consists of an earthfill embankment with a concrete spillway section, 193 feet high and 3,199 feet long; it withholds the 195,121-acre-foot Angostura Reservoir.

Cottonwood Springs Dam

Cottonwood Springs Dam is a dam in Fall River County, South Dakota in the southwestern part of the state, south of the Black Hills. The earthen dam was constructed in 1969 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers with a height of 123 feet and a length at its crest of 1190 feet. It impounds Cottonwood Springs Creek for flood control. The dam is owned and operated by the Corps of Engineers.

In addition, neighboring Shannon County contracts the duties of Auditor, Treasurer and Register of Deeds to the Fall River County authority in Hot Springs. Hot Springs is one of the warmest places in South Dakota with an annual mean temperature of 48.6 °F .
