French Creek is an intermittent stream located in the Black Hills region of western South Dakota, USA. It is a tributary of the Cheyenne River. It rises approximately 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Custer, South Dakota and extends for a length of 62 miles (100 km). It flows on a general eastward direction through Custer State Park and empties into the Cheyenne River near Red Shirt, South Dakota.

Red Shirt Table
Read Shirt Table is a table mountain in Shannon County, South Dakota part of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. The table, named after Chief Red Shirt is approximately 10 miles long, generally extending in a north-south direction, and is located along the western boundary of Badlands National Park's Stronghold Unit. The park's highest point is located at the southern end of the table at 3,340 feet .

The Badlands Bombing Range (BBR) refers to Rapid City Army Air Base target ranges for World War II which included the current Air Force Retained Area, an inactive 2,486-acre United States Air Force site "20 miles southeast of Phoenix, South Dakota". The retained area is the remainder of 341,726 acres federally acquired in 1942 under eminent domain at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
