Damon, Texas

Damon is a census-designated place (CDP) in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. The population was 552 at the 2010 census. The town is located about 20 miles south-southwest of Rosenberg, Texas on Texas Highway 36. Damon sits partly atop a salt dome which was exploited for petroleum, sulphur, and limestone.

Smithers Lake

Smithers Lake is a lake in Fort Bend County, Texas. It is located ten miles (16 km) southeast of Richmond. It is near the Brazos River. The project is owned and operated by NRG Energy as the cooling-water supply for a steam-electric generating station, W. A. Parish Electric Generating Station. It was previously owned by the Houston Lighting and Power Company. Construction was started on August 22, 1956, and was completed on July 1, 1957.
