Lake Livingston

Lake Livingston is a reservoir located in the East Texas Piney Woods. Lake Livingston was built, and is owned and operated, by the Trinity River Authority of Texas (TRA) under contract with the City of Houston for water supply purposes. The lake is one of the largest lakes constructed for water supply purposes located totally within the State of Texas. Only the Sam Rayburn Reservoir is larger.

Chita, Texas

Chita is a town in Trinity County, Texas. It was settled around the Civil War era, but did not develop much until the 1890's. In 1895, a post office was established, and in 1896, a school was founded. In 1914 Chita had a store, a cotton gin, and a sand and stone factory. After the 1950's, the town declined but after 1960, it grew again because of Lake Livingston. In 2000, the population was 81.
