Washington County is a county located in the U.S. state of Utah. Washington County is included in the St. George, Utah, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Mountain Meadows massacre was a series of attacks on the Baker–Fancher emigrant wagon train at Mountain Meadows in southern Utah. The attacks culminated on September 11, 1857, with the mass slaughter of most in the emigrant party by members of the Utah Territorial Militia from the Iron County district, together with some Paiute Native Americans.

Santa Clara Volcano
Santa Clara Volcano is a volcanic field and lava flow in southwest Utah. The most prominent features are two cinder cones that rise above Snow Canyon. The southern cinder cone and most of the north cinder cone are within the boundaries of Snow Canyon State Park. The city of St. George, Utah is located in the volcanic field. The date of the last eruption is unknown.
